China Lens — Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 22, 2026

China Lens is a Chrome extension that shows the corresponding Hong Kong / mainland China stock data for Chinese ADRs you are viewing on TradingView or Yahoo Finance. This policy explains exactly what the extension does and does not do with data.

What the extension reads

When you view a stock on TradingView or Yahoo Finance, China Lens reads the ticker symbol of the stock on the current page (from the page URL, or as a fallback from a stable element on the page). This is the only information it reads from the page, and only on those two sites.

Where that ticker is sent

To look up public market data, the ticker symbol is sent to the following third-party data providers:

Only the public ticker symbol and standard request metadata are sent. No account, identity, or personal information is attached to these requests.

What we do NOT collect

Local storage

China Lens stores a small amount of data locally in your browser using chrome.storage.session: a cache of ticker mappings and the most recent view model for open tabs. This data lives only in your browser, is never transmitted to us, and is cleared when you close the browser.

Data sharing & sale

We do not collect, store on any server, share, or sell any user data. The extension has no backend server of its own.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
